Spring 2024 English Department Graduation Ceremony
Overview
Join us for the May 22 English Department Graduation Ceremony! English Graduates, you must apply for graduation by Monday, May 1, if you want to attend the ceremony and be included in the graduation ceremony program. We are inviting Summer 2023, Fall 2023, Spring 2024, and Summer 2024 graduates. Eligible graduates will receive an email from the LCA office with ticket information. See below for details regarding the ceremony:
Date: Wednesday, May 22
Time: 2:00-3:30 pm, doors will open at 1:30 pm
Location: McKenna Theater, Creative Arts building on campus
Reception: 4:00 pm Reception outside of McKenna Theater, sidewalk area near Holloway Ave.
If you are planning on participating in the English Department Graduation Ceremony:
- Contact us at: engdept@sfsu.edu, if you or any of your guests attending have disabilities and need accommodations.
- Complimentary tickets are required for you and your guests and are available through the LCA box office. You will receive an Audience View email from the LCA box office about how to obtain the graduation ceremony tickets. There will be a limit of up to 7 tickets, not including yourself. If you need more than 7 tickets, you will have the option, on this website, to be put on a waitlist for more tickets. If you do not need your allocated tickets, you will have the option to give back any tickets you do not need so that others can use them
- Please upload the following to our photo upload form: photo, avatar, image that reflects who you are, your first and last name, and concentration in English, so that we can include the photo in the slideshow for your family & friends to see before the ceremony begins.
CEREMONY DETAILS
The ceremony will be conducted like any other commencement: there will be a procession into the theater, your name will be read by the coordinator of your respective program, you will cross the stage, and graduate students will be hooded by their coordinators.
Please plan on arriving dressed in cap and gown and meet in CA 153 (in the Creative Arts building) at 1:00 pm, where we will line you up by program and in the order your names will be called. Caps and gowns are required and can be rented from the SFSU bookstore. Hoods are required for graduate students.
Doors to McKenna Theatre in the Creative Arts Building will open at 1:30 pm, and at that time your family and friends can begin entering McKenna Theater to find seats.
POST-CEREMONY RECEPTION
The ceremony will be followed by a gathering outside of McKenna Theater, sidewalk area near Holloway Ave.
