Raz is a graduate student in the MA Linguistics program. They attended Leeds university in the UK, first earning a BA in German and Japanese in 2010 and returning in 2014 to earn an MA in Applied Translation Skills. Before enrolling in the MA Linguistics program at SFSU, they worked as a technical translator and writer. They have a particular interest in Japanese linguistics, emergent language trends in online communities and natural language processing. They are currently researching sound symbolism in Japanese using computational linguistic approaches.
